Ready to attack 您r kitchen clutter? Declutter 您r kitchen 通过 removing these 10 things NOW!
所以我’ve been knee-deep in kitchen decluttering 和 spring cleaning these past two weeks (right there in 的trenches with 您 guys who are participating in this month’s 厨房组织的挑战 as part of this year’s 组织&完善您的家庭挑战).
当我经历最近的“declutter 的kitchen”会议上,我整理了清单10“No Brainers” that 您 can immediately place into 的“toss” pile.
在每个厨房里’ve organized 在我作为专业组织者的时候, there was always a kitchen cupboard that was overflowing with coffee mugs. Always. 一世’d go as far as to deem it 的#2 most common kitchen clutter culprit (second only to paper clutter).
Everyone can benefit from decluttering their mug collection. Of course, keep 您r favorites (like 的ones that 您r child gave 您 for Mother’s Day), but 的random giveaway mugs should go for sure.
A closely related cousin of 的giveaway mug is 的souvenir cup. Fess up…you’ve got a collection stashed away in one of 您r upper cabinets, right? Do 您 actually use them, or are they simply serving as dust collectors?
How many potholders do 您 actually use at any given time? If 您’ve got a drawer full of them, keep 的best 3 or 4, then bid adieu to 的ones that have seen better days. Ew.
当然,谈到香料,’s also important to take a look at 的ones that 您 DO use. Those expiration dates tend to sneak up quickly, so be sure to take a good look at expiration dates during 您r declutter session.
我可以诚实地说’ve used about 2 of 的vases within this collection of florist vases that I’ve been hoarding in 的cabinet above my refrigerator during 的past decade. Time to pick my 2 favorites, 让 go of 的rest, 和 free up some cabinet space.
It’看到你总是很有趣’ll find during an archeological dig into those cabinets that lie under 的kitchen sink. Like this Orange Glo cleaner, for example.
If we ever return to Kennywood Park, will I actually remember to bring this refillable popcorn container along in order to take advantage of 的$1.95 refill deal? You know 的answer.
如果它’s in 的original box (which looks pristine), 您 can be even more confident that 您’ve come across a “no brainer” for 的kitchen declutter pile.

这里’s my bonus tip…if 您 come across an item 和 您 don’不知道它是什么,那么当然它应该找到它’s way to 的Toss pile!

If all that sounds like 您, it’s time to start purging. Here are 10 no-brainer items to begin 折腾ing so 您 can proudly open those garage doors.
Years ago I had several vases I did not use. Took about a dozen very clean ones to 的florist 和 she gave me a bouquet of flowers for my efforts. Was nice to know they didn’不能填埋并用于其他用途。
3rd or 4th reader to tell me that they’ve returned 的vases to a local florist. Genius idea! Kinda like returning 的wire hangers to 的dry cleaners…
I’m so glad I have my readers to educate me about kitchen gadgets! Totally agree with 的rule that if 您 don’不使用它,它就消失了(它传给了Goodwill,所以希望有人比我现在更喜欢一个更好的厨师!)
Oh — I think 您 must have been in my kitchen! Great post. I need to purge 和 de-clutter so much of my old stuff. Thanks for 的inspiration.
ðŸ™,
I love this post! I am organizationally challenged, 和 I have 折腾ed a number of things on 您r list. But there is always more to be done! So funny, 的mystery tool haha,ha! I think we all have one of those lurking in our cabinets somewhere. I am 折腾ing my grandmothers silver, 的asparagus server just isn’不再习惯了!
The irony of stumbling upon this post on 的same evening 您 chose to clear out that cabinet. Just goes to show 您 that great minds think alike!
Love 的addition of strange items 和 things covered in dust. I have a few of those hanging out in my kitchen, I’我肯定吹扫使我开心,尽管我丈夫不’想要摆脱事物的速度如此之快!
Good luck with 您r move 和 thanks for stopping 通过 !
我确实在用我的’s staying, but 的10 or so vases 和 yucky pot holders have to go.
I love 的dust layer rule – makes sense too. I got rid of a lot of dusty things when we moved house last year but I feel another sweep could be necessary following 的“我搬家以来有没有用过” rule.
我犹豫要发布那个尘土飞扬的肉汁分离器朱莉(因为’明确指示需要多长时间’s been since I’ve gone through 的corner cabinet!). But I know that we all have these, 和 您 just validated that! 和 yes, 通过 all means, keep 您r veggie slicer if 您 use 和 love it 🙂
Oh 林赛 , this made me smile! It will feel AWESOME when 您 get rid of those “no brainers”. I promise!
It looks like 的last thing on 您r list is a vegetable slicer – like, 您 stick 的potato or whatever to 的round part, rub it over 的flat part 和 it makes nice little fries. Maybe.
We’re in 的middle of doing 的great kitchen clean out (some people call it nesting, but I call it wanting to declutter 的kitchen before I never get more than 3 hours of sleep at a time again!). Luckily I have older kids that I can get to help me.
Oh Jenny, thanks for unraveling 的mystery! I suspect 您 are right! Thanks but I’ll just stick to knives if I need to slice a veggie (or throw it in 的food processor). Congrats on 您r impending bundle of joy…and yes, I was 的the same way when I was nesting. Thank goodness for 的older sibs!
Yes to all of these!! We had a ton of mugs despite 的fact that no one in our house even drinks hot beverages with any regularity. How did we get a cabinet full of mugs?! We got rid of a bunch
有趣的是艾米丽,我’我从来没有错过任何我’ve 让 go of during a decluttering session (and certainly not my excess coffee mugs).
Love this list! YES to 的vases… I wrote a whole post once about my own personal struggle with a very large vase. I ended up taking it back to 的florist, who was thrilled to receive it. And souvenir cups? Boy does I come across a lot of those….
Well I never thought about returning them to 的florist. What a novel idea Seana! Of course, after I published 的post, I reallized that I omitted another biggie…
Great post Natalie, I laughed when 您 mentioned 的excess mugs 和 souvenir cups, 2 things that my husband has trouble 让ting go off. Isn’t it interesting how similar we all are with 的things in our kitchen we hold on to.
和 的sippy cups Jill…let’s not forget 的excess sippy cups that we always seem to across in client’s homes (sometimes when their kids are grown 和 out of 的house!)
